Meet Reverend Mpoyo Mulongo

Reverend Mpoyo Mulongo brings a rich and global perspective to his ministry, rooted in a deep and lifelong faith. Born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo and now a naturalized American citizen, his call to service was nurtured in a Christian home and through the United Methodist Church, a journey that has continued with the Global Methodist Church since 2023. He is a graduate of Africa University and the Protestant University of Congo, holding a Master’s degree in Theology. Rev. Mpoyo was ordained in 1999 and served with distinction in the DRC, both as a pastor planting a new church and in district roles coordinating development and serving as a chaplain to war refugees. He and his wife, Rev. Tshishinen Mpoyo, are the proud parents of two sons, Eric and Michel, and the doting grandparents to Jayden and Maliya. Since answering the call to serve in the Wisconsin Conference, Rev. Mpoyo has been a dedicated leader through periods of change and unification. Over eleven years, he has faithfully served seven churches, often guiding congregations through successful mergers to strengthen their mission and outreach. His gifts for bringing people together and providing spiritual nourishment have been a blessing to every community he has served. Beyond the local church, he and his wife have served as interpreters at United Methodist General Conferences since 2014. Rev. Mpoyo believes powerfully in the ministry of reconciliation and spiritual nourishment through teaching and preaching. He is excited to continue this work with the congregation of Trinity Methodist Church. Outside of ministry, he enjoys traveling, meeting new people, learning about different cultures, sharing stories, gardening, watching movies, and exercising. His life and ministry are a testament to the words of the prophet Micah: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8 (NIV)
