2025-2026 Confirmation Program at Trinity Methodist Church

Welcome!
We are so excited that you are beginning your Confirmation journey! This is a special time to learn, ask questions, and grow in your relationship with God. This program is designed for 10th graders and above who wish to become full members of the church.

Our Purpose

The goal of Confirmation is to help you understand what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. We will explore the Bible, Christian beliefs, and how to live out your faith every day. As a church family, we promise to support you every step of the way.

The 2025-2026 program will run from November 16, 2025, to April 26, 2026. Below are the requirements for completing your Confirmation.

  1. Registration
All students must complete a Confirmation Registration Form and return it to the church office by November 2, 2025.
  2. Classes & Attendance
  • Classes are held Sundays from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, starting November 16, 2025.
  • We use the curriculum “Essential Transformation: Becoming a Real Disciple of Jesus Christ” by Rev. Rome A. Pegram, revised by Rev. Mulongo Mpoyo.
  • Regular attendance is required. You may have up to three excused absences. If you miss a class, you must complete make-up work.
  1. Worship Participation
Faith is not just a class; it is a practice. We expect confirmands to:
  • Attend worship services at Trinity Methodist Church at least three times a month.
  • Serve during worship as an acolyte, usher, liturgist, or in another role.
  1. Service Project
To live out our faith, each confirmand must complete at least one service project. This can be done through a church ministry (e.g., helping with Vacation Bible School, the food pantry) or an approved community organization. Please discuss your plan with your teachers.
  2. Faith Mentor (Optional)
A Faith Mentor is an adult from TMC or another Christian church (not a parent or sibling) who can guide you and talk with you about faith. This is optional. If a confirmand does not choose a mentor, a parent may serve in this role.
  3. Homework & Assignments
Learning continues at home. Confirmands are required to complete:
  • Weekly reading and assignments from our class curriculum.
  • Three books: “Spiritual Entrepreneurs” by Michael Slaughter, “He Did This Just for You” by Max Lucado, and “A Catechism of Christian Faith and Doctrine for the Global Methodist Church.”
  • A Personal Faith Statement (Spiritual Journey): A one-page paper you will write and share on Confirmation Sunday.
  • Reflection Papers: Two one-page papers (12-point font, 1.5 spacing) after our group movie night and our visit to Calvary Bible Church.
  1. Meeting with the Pastor
Each confirmand will have a one-on-one meeting with Rev. Mpoyo before Confirmation Sunday. This is a time to talk about your faith journey and ask any final questions.
  2. Parental Support
Parents play a key role! We need you to:
  • Encourage your confirmand and discuss what they are learning.
  • Ensure they attend classes and worship regularly.
  • Help them complete their service project and assignments.
  1. Communication
Our primary teacher is Rev. Mulongo Mpoyo. He is assisted by Tammy Steers, Carissa Backhaus, and John Lavarda.

Tammy Steers is the main contact for parents. She will share updates and reminders. Please tell her if your phone number or email address changes.

Completing these requirements prepares you to make a lifelong commitment to God and the church. We are praying for you and look forward to sharing this amazing journey with you.

Blessings,

Rev. Mulongo Mpoyo
